I Choose Life,(ICL) a Non Governmental Organization in Kenya has donated a cheque worth Kshs,500,000 to UON. I choose life is among the sponsors for the 2016 Nairobi Innovation Week.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the University and the ICL . among the things highlighted in the partnership include: sponsorship of the 2016 innovation week, facilitation of selected high schools to attend the innovation week, proposal to work with C4D Lab to roll out a digital infrastructure to register all school going pupils (with support of the Ministry of Education) and a proposal to host the Triple Helix International Conference in Kenya in February, 2017, in collaboration with the C4D Lab.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Mbithi has emphasized on the value of partnerships and collaborations between the University and other stakeholders, with more emphasis paid to collaborations that involve innovations and youth programs.

The 2016 innovation week is set to kick off on the first week of August from 1st August 2015 to 5th August 2016. The theme for this year is ‘partnerships for innovations that truly impact people and societies’

I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is a Kenyan NGO registered in 2004. ICL  works by partnering with the Government of Kenya, through the Ministries of Health, Education, Agriculture, Youth Affairs and Vision 2030, Universities among others, to design interventions to solve problems in different communities.

ICL has programs across 23 Counties in Kenya that reach over  1 Million youth annually. ICL’s Vision is “Healthy Africa, Empowered People!” and her mission it to create a movement of individuals that enhances the quality of life for communities through health initiatives, economic empowerment, academic & career mentoring and improved leadership & Governance.

Among the University officials present were Prof. Henry W. Mutoro, Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Academic Affairs), Prof. T. Waema, School of Computing, Mr. Johnson Kinyua, University Advancement Director and Mr. John Orindi, Director, Corporate Affairs.
