A tree planting exercise took place at the Professor Wangari Mathai Institute. The exercise was led by the Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Mbithi.
The Vice Chancellor asked the members of staff to work as a team so that the University can continue to maintain its top position in the region and even beyond. The VC also noted that planting the trees is a way to conserve and respect the environment. He also passed his congratulatory message to Professor Stephen Kiama who is now the Principal of CAVS. Prof. Kiama has also served as the Director of WMI (Wangari Mathai Institute.

A total of 2300 indigenous tree seedlings were planted by the students and the members of staff. This was done to commemorate the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies’ (WMI) tree planting ceremony.
Students from loresho primary school also joined in the noble exercise.

The Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies main mission is to cultivate positive ethics, values and practices towards the environment by training stewards who foster peace, promote holistic sustainable development, and link theory with practice.
