Equity bank has donated 1.5 million shillings to go towards the 2016Nairobi Innovation Week. The cheque was handed to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mbithi by Equity’s Corporate and Institutional Banking Manager, Ms. Agnes Wanjuki on behalf of the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. James Mwangi.
Speaking during the brief visit, the Vice Chancellor said the University was keen on cooperating and partnering with Equity Bank. He also emphasized on the need of partnering in the areas of technology and research, with Innovation Week being one of them.
Ms. Agnes said that the CEO and she were very proud to be alumni of the University of Nairobi and the Equity bank was eager to partner with the largest Institution in the region. She also pointed out that the bank was sponsoring 140 students in the various colleges.
The Nairobi Innovation Week is scheduled to take place from 1st-5th August 2016. The theme for this year is, “Partnerships for Innovations that Truly Impact People and Societies”. Already other sponsors have come on board. They include; UNICEF (United Nations Child Emergency Fund) who are the lead sponsor, ICL (I choose Life) who donated a cheque of 500,000kshs, among others.
