Vice Chancellor on a meet the people tour at Central Examinations Centre - June 23, 2017.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Peter Mbithi in his meet the people tour of Central Examinations Centre was accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs Prof Mutoro and the Academic Registrar Mr Waweru. The host and the Head of Central Examinations Centre Dr Mbithi took them round the various work stations. All members of staff were delighted to have one-on-one discussions with the Vice Chancellor.

CEES Staff Trained on Examination Regulations, Processes & Standards

Dr. Mbithi (PhD) the Head-CEC conducting the training and looking on is Mr. Mbuva the Senior Assistant Registrar-Examinations.

On Wednesday, May 5, 2017; all heads of departments, administrators and data entry clerks in College of Eduaction and External Studies, CEES participated in a training on University Examinations Regulations, Processes & Standards organised by senior staff of the Central Examinations Centre.

The main focus of the training was to sensitize participants on the set regulations, process and standards when it comes to examinations. The training was conducted by Dr. Adelaide Mbithi whose main focus was on the Rules and Regulations contained in the University of Nairobi Examinations Booklet. The second trainer, Mr. Evanson Mbuva covered the Schedule of Examinations Activities as approved by the University of Nairobi Senate.

Customer Care Training for the Central Examinations Centre Staff

 

The Customer Care Training for the Central Examinations Centre staff was held on March 03, 2017. The one day in-house training was officiated and opened by Prof Muturo, the DVC (AA). Dr Kinoti was the lead trainer.

DATE FOR 55TH GRADUATION CEREMONY

The University of Nairobi has set September 2nd, 2016 as the day that the next graduation 
ceremony will take place.



Graduands will be drawn from the colleges of Education and External Studies (CEES), 
Biological and Physical Sciences (CBPS), Architecture and Engineering (CAE) and 
Agriculture and Veterinary Studies (CAVS).For the first time in history, all PhD 
Candidates from all the colleges and campuses of the varsity that will have received their 
letter of awards by August 5th, 2016 will also graduate. 

This will be the 55th graduation ceremony since its inception. During the last graduation 
ceremony held at December 2015, UoN awarded 8,861 degrees and diplomas.

The date was set during the first graduation committee meeting held on 23rd June, 2016.
The preparation for the ceremony that is set to host over 14,000 students and guardians 
has kicked off.  All the participating colleges and all the heads of central units were 
present during the planning committee meeting (see pic below) held at the Confucius 
Institute, Education building at UoN.

2016  SURVEILLANCE AUDIT – ISO 9001:2008  - JUNE 15, 2016

The 2016 Surveillance Audit for ISO 9001:2008 was conducted by Kenya Bureau of 
Standards (KEBS) on June 15, 2016. The main objective of the audit was to establish 
continued conformity and continual improvement of the organization's QMS to 
ISO 9001:2008 for the purposes of continued certification. The lead Auditor was 
Mrs Caroline Outa-Ogweno of  KEBS. In her closing remarks Mrs Ogweno lauded the 
CEC Team for maintaining an exemplary good working environment.

TEAM BUILDING FOR CENTRAL EXAMINATIONS CENTRE

The Central Examination Centre members of staff held team building exercise on Friday, 10th June 2016 at the University Sports grounds; next to the Central Catering Unit.

The event was attended by all members of staff from the Centre and was divided into two sections:-

(i)  Physical team building activities facilitated by the UoN Sports and Games Department under the Director, Sports and Games.

(ii) Motivation talk facilitated by Prof. J. Ogeng'o Managing Director, CESSP.

The event was very successful and every member of staff was very happy and joyful by the end of the event.

 

STAFF MEETING FOR MEMBERS OF CENTRAL EXAMINATIONS CENTRE

(CEC 4TH-QUARTER 2016 STAFF MEETING)

A meeting for all the staff of the CEC was held on Friday May 27, 2016 starting from 4.00 p.m. presided over by Head of CEC, Dr. Mbithi. The main agenda was to deliberate on the up-coming KEBS Survellance Audit (2016) and also discuss matters touching on staff welfare, procurement, ICT and work environment.

 

Staff Party for Central Examinations Centre Members on April 4, 2016

The CEC staff members held their get-together party on 4th of April 2015 at Maxland Restaurant in Westlands Nairobi along Waiyaki Way.

On this ocassion, the staff members led by the Head - CEC Dr. Mbithi and Deputy Registsrar Mrs Akaranga bid farewell to Mr Charles Lutta - a long serving Senior Administrative Assistant - who had just retired from the University.

VETTING OF STAFF OF CENTRAL EXAMINATIONS CENTRE

Vetting of staff of Central Examinations Centre (CEC) took place on March 22, 2016 at the premises boardroom.

During the vetting exercise, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi who was present emphasized on the need of maintaining integrity, professionalism and honesty at all times. The Vice Chancellor also urged the CEC members to read the Code of Conducts & Ethics and any other documents given to them. 

The CEC members of staff were also urged to keep all the assets of the university confidential. These assets include and not limited to physical assets, intellectual property and technological property.

Mr Tim Mweseli who was the presiding advocate took the staff through the process of swearing, after which all the members present signed the oath of confidentiality form.

 

End-of-Year Staff Party for Central Examinations Centre December 2014

The CEC staff members held their end-of-year get-together party on 22nd of December 2014 at China Centre along Ngong Road. On this ocassion, the staff members led by the Deputy Registrar Mrs Akaranga bid farewell to Mrs Diana Maina - a long serving secretary-who had just retired from the University.

Examination Centre Portal Launch June 5th 2014

The Customer Relations Management Informations System (CRMIS) also popularly known as the Examinations Centre Portal was launched on June 5th, 2014. The system is used in processing and management of transcripts, certificates and other services offered in the centre.

CEC End-of-Year Staff Party, Dec 2011

The CEC staff members held their end-of-year get-together party on 19th of December 2011 at Vuli Restaurant, Barclays Plaza along Loita Street. On this ocassion, the staff members led by the Head of CEC, Dr. Mbithi bid farewell to Mr Chelimo - a long serving Examinations Officer - who had left the University service to take up a new position at KNEC.
