The University of Nairobi held its 58th graduation celebration today Friday 22nd December 2017. A total of 6112 were conferred degrees and awarded diplomas. 45 graduands were awarded Doctor of Philosophy awards,14 Fellowship awards,1661 masters degrees,18 postgraduate diplomas,3176 bachelor degree awards, 6 higher diploma and 569 diploma awards.

Speaking during the celebration, the Chancellor Dr. Vijoo Rattansi congratulated the class of 2017. She noted that the university has given the students the best in education this side of the continent. She also thanked the students, faculty, nonteaching staff, parents and guardians and the government for making the graduation a success

The Vice Chancellor on his part congratulated the graduands as he also reminded them the education qualifications and the quality of certificates they obtain are not only a source of pride but also indicators of their readiness to go! Ready to work and ready to serve!

Among the 61 PhDs conferred today, was the first woman PhD from Tana River County who was accompanied by the governor of the county

This is the 58th graduation celebration of the university since its inception
