Commencement date is 24th August 2026. An SMS has been sent to all students with registration numbers.

Information on Application for the 75th Graduation Ceremony

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all students who qualified for the award of various degrees and diplomas at the end of last academic year (2025/2026) and members of the public, that the 75th Graduation Ceremony will be held PHYSICALLY on Friday, September 18, 2026 commencing at 7.30 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court.

Eng. Prof. Ayub N. Gitau Installed as the 9th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi

The University of Nairobi's 9th Vice-Chancellor Eng. Prof. Ayub Njoroge Gitau was officially installed on Friday, 17th July 2026, in a colourful ceremony held at the iconic Taifa Hall. The installation rite was carried out by the Chair of University Council, Prof. Chacha Nyaigoti- Chacha and witnessed by Principal Secretary, State Department for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala. 

Academic Division Hosts University of Embu for Benchmarking Meeting

The Academic Division on 1st July 2026, hosted a delegation from University of Embu for a benchmarking meeting focused on best practices in graduate assessment. Discussions centered on the logistics of conducting online defences, the policies guiding implementation, and measures to uphold integrity and confidentiality throughout the process. The engagement yielded valuable insights for both institutions and reinforced opportunities for future collaboration in academic innovation.

Call for Applications for AU-IBAR: UoN Scholarship - Deadline 31/7/2026

The Department of Biology, University of Nairobi, invites applications from qualified candidates for two scholarship opportunities to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Fresh Water and Marine Biology.

The scholarship will cover tuition and/or research expenses throughout the programme, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
