Dr. Alice Atieno Odingo has called on the National Government to prioritize the formulation of a policy to protect sites and support farmers of herbal medicine. In her article entitled ‘COVID-19: Can Herbal Medicine provide the much needed cure?’ she says, ‘’Policy formulations are required to conserve the sites which are rich in herbal medicines, support farmers that grow and preserve these biological resources, establish a structure for collection, processing and patenting for commercial use as well as enhancing collaboration between herbal and conventional medical practitioners.’’

Dr. Alice Odingo is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Agricultural Geography from the University of Nairobi. She wrote and publish the article on 27th May, 2020 at the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) Blog of the University of Nairobi. The main objective of the article, she states, was to put emphasis of the importance of herbal medicine as a possible alternative and effective treatment of Covid-19.
