The University of Nairobi staff and students planted over 3000 seedlings on Friday 11th April 2025, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Upper Kabete campus. The event was in support of the government’s strategy of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 to increase Kenya's forest cover from less than 10% to 30%. The University has integrated tree planting and growing in its operational strategy, where each department and individual staff sets their annual tree planting targets. The Academic Division led by the DVC AA, Prof. Ayub Gitau was well represented by heads of sections.
