The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been registering many international students from different countries in Africa. Most of the international students are referred by their fellow countrymen who are either continuing students or alumni of the institution. Also, some of the potential students are generally recommended by their sponsoring organizations, colleagues and/or seniors in their workplaces. A recent interview with some students from the Gambia indicated that the UoN offers a wide variety of courses that uniquely meet their specific career needs, hence influencing their decision to join the university.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the international students praised the university’s swift move to continue with teaching and learning activities through e-learning platforms. Though there are a few challenges of e-learning such as Kenyan accent, connectivityand other technical issues,students have continued to receive excellent services with the support of the university competent technical team.
Most international students feel comfortable studying in Kenya and are always willing to recommend more students from their countries. For instance, besides the favourable climate, Kenya is a tourist destination with numerous beautiful natural attractions and culture for enhanced learning. For instance, the Nairobi National Park, which is located within the vicinity of Nairobi City is ideal for leisure lovers. Moreover, the institution is historically renowned for its consistent quality of education thusmaking it one of the leading world-class university in the region and beyond.
