The University of Nairobi launched a Master of Arts in Women, Children and Nature Rights in Environmental Governance (WCNREG) in August 2023. This MA in WCNREG is multidisciplinary and seeks to promote sustainable development in the Eastern and Southern African region by addressing the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. The programme, funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), is regional in scope and brings together the University of Nairobi, the Southern and Eastern African Regional Centre for Women’s Law (SEARCWL) - the University of Zimbabwe, the University of Malawi, and the University of Oslo. The programme takes an inclusive, engendered and decolonising approach to environmental governance, which recognises the rights of women, children and nature.
