Prof. Evaristus Makunyi Irandu has observed that the public transport especially matatus and truck drivers are still the weak link in the fight against Covid-19 in Kenya and the region. In a paper published on June 08, 2020 in the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) Blog, he states that already in Nairobi streets that three weeks ago were free of traffic, are now heavily congested again after the tough measures to control the spread of the virus introduced by the Kenyan government were a bit relaxed. In order to ensure public transport does not become a vehicle for transmitting corona virus in Kenya and along the Northern Corridor, Prof. Irandu has therefore called for additional measures of containment.
