Education CS announces that phased reopening of universities will start in September

In his address to the nation on Tuesday 7th July 2020 Prof. Magoha said “Social or physical distancing is the most critical factor in ensuring the safety and health of learners for reopening of learning institutions. Handwashing with soap and-or use of sanitisers, wearing of face masks and monitoring body temperature will be the minimum requirements for the health and safety of learners.”
Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has announced that phased reopening of universities will start in September 2020 under strict guidelines, ending a four-month closure occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic. The CS however directed that reopening of universities for face-to-face sessions will be on a case-by-case basis based on approved compliance with Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols. Prof. Magoha added that universities should continue conducting online teaching and graduations.

Ministry of Health launches Home-based Isolation & Care protocols for the COVID-19 patients

The Ministry of Health launched Home-based Isolation and Care protocols for the COVID-19 patients on 10th June 2020. Kenya, therefore, leads the region as it is the only country implementing this program as one of the case management strategies to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The protocols have been developed in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. The guidelines have been developed taking into consideration the local socio-economic situation and they have been translated to Kiswahili and counties have been called to translate them to local languages.
