The Ministry of Health launched Home-based Isolation and Care protocols for the COVID-19 patients on 10th June 2020. Kenya, therefore, leads the region as it is the only country implementing this program as one of the case management strategies to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The protocols have been developed in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.

The guidelines have been developed taking into consideration the local socio-economic situation and they have been translated to Kiswahili and counties have been called to translate them to local languages.

The Chief Administrative Secretary for Health, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi during the COVID-19 media briefing on 24th June 2020 at Afya House said the Protocols and Guidelines on home-based care can be found on the Ministry's website: www.health.go.ke
