The DAAD Regional Director wishes to inform all staff and students that the call for Applications for the 2021 In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme for Eastern Africa is now open! This programme is open to individual Master and PhD students in the Sub-Saharan Africa region who wish to study either in their home countries or at selected host institutions in other African countries. The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and aims at university staff in the first line, without neglecting the public sector demand for academically trained personnel.    For this region, the scholarship is open to citizens and permanent residents of sub-Saharan Africa to study in selected institutions in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia and Sudan. Attached please find the list of successful applicants for Inter/Intra Faculty transfers. The transfer letters have been signed and ready for collection from the Admissions Office by Faculties/Schools/Institutes/Centers. Once the student receives their letters, they should make two (2) copies, 1 to be retained at the current School and the other to be submitted by the student to the new school. The student should retain the original letter.

Students are encouraged to apply for the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KOTDA) internship/attachment program. This is part of on the job training for the purpose of molding interns/attaches to become responsible citizens who will contribute effectively to the socioeconomic development of the country as well as develop their ability to successfully take up employment in various sectors. KOTDA is a parastatal under the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs is the implementing agency for Konza Technopolis, a Vision 2030 flagship project that seeks to create a world class smart city driven by innovation in ICT/ITES, Engineering and Life Sciences. The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) invites the citizens of the East African Community to apply for cohort 2 of the KfW- funded Scholarships, to pursue Master’s studies in the EAC Partner State other than their own. Thematic areas: 1) Mathematics 2) Engineering 3) Informatics 4) Science  5) Technology 6) Business Science Eligible applicants: Nationals of the East African Community (EAC) Partner States (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda). The UoN Hult Prize is requesting members of staff of faculty to apply for three (3) available positions of pro-bono judges to help in selecting the best teams in the Quarter finals which will be happening virtually on the 30th October, 2020 from 10am to 1pm EAT.  Each panel of judges will have three members from across three main areas: Academia, Business & Administration. All interested parties are highly encouraged to apply. No experience in judging is required. The Hult Prize will reward the judges with certificate signed by the Hult Prize Global Key partner, Former US President, Bill Clinton. CLICK HERE to apply if interested. The Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO) proposes to train staff, students and researchers from various units of the University, so that their research products and processes can be protected, moved along into the product development and commercialization phase for the benefit of the researcher, the University and the society. The training is intended to be practical and therefore the resource persons are drawn from invention/innovation incubation based organizations, inventors with commercialized Intellectual Property and those with relevant business skills. The training will be held using TEAMS® from 9.00 to 2.00 PM on Tuesday 10th November 2020. The resource persons will include Prof. Tom Ogada, Dr. Kenneth Chelule, Dr. Robert Karanja, Prof. Cyrus Iraya and Prof. Mary Kinoti.
